RV Delivery Day!!

September 13, 2022

Today was they day! We did a walk through of the RV where a service tech took us through how to operate everything. Also spent some time with a service sales guy who recommended a few items we may need. Then it was delivered to the land and put in its resting spot.

Let me hit the highlights.

The book of accessories we were provided was about two inches thick. However, I would have preferred a user manual that thick that tells us everything we need to know that we could reference later! We are novices, so obviously it was all new to us, and there is no manual. I’m old school. I was furiously writing things down in my notebook as the kind gentleman talked about how to operate everything. Sure I can handle the buttons you push that say “In and Out” and I can turn on the lights. But how the different tanks work for water and gas and the battery…hope Greg was paying attention because it was like a foreign language to me. There was a lot of instruction on how to flush the toilet, how to turn on the water heater for the shower, how not to spray pam aerosol in the kitchen without setting of some alarm, and how not to screw up the canopy. Let’s not forget the description of how to shower “get wet, then turn the water off to lather up, then back on again to rinse. But be careful, it may be really hot when you turn it back on.” Ummm, what? Are you serious? “The hot water tank is 6 gallons.” Do you know that the average 8 minute shower in the United States uses 17 gallons of water? I’m pretty sure my showers take longer than 8 minutes even when I don’t wash my hair. How many times will I need to turn it off during my shower to preserve that limited 6 gallons? I’ve decided I won’t be showering from our move date to when the pole barn is done. Plan is for a much larger water heater in the pole barn that eliminates the need to turn the water off during the course of my shower 😂

Speaking of the pole barn. We finally got the septic permit this week. Barn is supposed to start now on 9/27, two to three weeks to complete. Really that means four to five weeks. So I won’t shower from 10/10 to about 11/1. Wonderful!

Greg did just text me and say that the electric and fiber lines are being dug today so that’s great news! At least we can “plug in” the RV for power. Strange that I will be living literally off a very large plug in cord.

Back to the RV training. After the walk through, we spent time with the service sales guy, Rick. He wasn’t exactly Mr Positive. He did catch my attention about 15 minutes in when he burst my bubble with this chatter “let’s hope we have a mild winter because if not, it’s going to suck living in the RV. Actually even if it is a mild winter, it will still suck!” Wow, give him salesperson of the year for that great sales pitch! Maybe he was just trying to upsell all the extra items we need to buy.k to make it warm and cozy. He was talking about another customer who came in once a week last winter to get a new water hose because his froze every week. Another reason to not shower in the RV. Adding to my list…research how to keep your water hose from freezing in an RV. In the same vain, I was watching Homestead Rescue on tv last night and they had water pipes in Alaska that weren’t freezing so surely we can figure out how to prevent that. Perhaps Kasha needs to just sleep on the pipes to keep them warm all winter.

We have a bit of work to get this beauty level so I won’t feel like I’m on my inversion table when I sleep, but we are making progress! And she really is very nice inside….just a little compact from what I’m used to. Here’s a preview while it’s still empty….I’m sure it won’t look this pristine once we move in with the dogs!
